Please kindly
note the following:
1) I have
returned the Mock Math CA1 papers to your child. Please sign on the cover page of
the papers to acknowledge that you have seen the papers. A
2) Common
errors for Paper 1:
·
Qn 10: When the
answer is supposed to be rounded off 2 decimal places, they need to do their
long division to three decimal places first.
· Qn 13: Many of them missed out the word "anti-clockwise".
· Qn 18: They have to make sure that their final answer is to 2 decimal places.
·
Qn 20: They
need to be aware that Angle DEF is less than 90 degrees. Thus if their answer
is more than 90 degrees, their answer does not make sense.
· Qn 23: After inserting the brackets, they should check to make sure that they get the answer 7.
·
Qn 26: They
need to be more careful in reading that Kevin is 36 years younger than his
father as some of them took 36 to be divided by 4 instead of 3.
·
Qn 27 and Qn
29: They need to draw the models out to see the relationship.
·
Qn 28: Some of
them did not read the question carefully as the question asked for the most
number of sweets.
·
Qn 30: They
need to see that there are 7 letters in each group.
3) Common
errors for Paper 2:
·
Many of them
made the mistakes of not writing down how they derived the numbers to solve the
questions. They need to remember to write down the number equations so that
marks will not be penalised.
·
Qn 4: By
drawing the model out, they will see that 6 units represent 108.
·
Qn 5: Some of
them were not careful as they wrote the figure number instead of the number of
layers.
·
Qn 7: They
should learn how to check for this question so that they would know that any
number except for 12 will not give them 64 points.
·
Qn 8: They need
to learn to make reference to their number equations or label in the diagram
the measurement of the angles in degrees.
·
Qn 10: They
need to show that the product of the smallest number and the largest number is
180. The question asked for four consecutive whole numbers and not the four
consecutive factors of 180.
·
Qn 12: They
need to know that the remainder of 3 is actually $3 that can be used to buy 5
more candies. Most of them thought that the remainder of 3 were 3 sweets.
·
Qn 13: They had
read too much into the question and were surprised that the model for this
question is not as complicated as they thought it was.
·
Qn 15: They
need to be more aware of the units used for this question.
·
Qn 16:They need to know that the remaining 5 units is represented by $24 + $16.
· Qn 17: It will be easier for them to add the two masses together to get 10 textbooks and 10 notebooks.
